Patient Journey
1. Get in touch
If you notice any changes in your vision, book an appointment with one of our eye specialists to get tested for cataracts.
Our friendly Patient Care Team will take your call and answer any of your queries around our clinic and the next steps of your journey - we’re always here to help.
2. A Comprehensive Consultation
Our expert optometrists will meticulously complete a comprehensive assessment which will include a set of diagnostics and tests to ensure the most personalised treatment.
These tests will help to decide which type of intra-ocular lens (IOL) to be implanted based on your needs and preferences that will be best for you, so your vision is as good as possible after the surgery.
They will discuss cataract surgery as a recommended treatment option, addressing any concerns or questions you may have.
3. Meet Your Surgeon
Our dedication to the highest possible standards runs throughout the clinic team. Meet with your surgeon who will discuss your options, plan your treatment and select the best premium lens, make recommendations and answer any questions.
At your consultation, you will be informed what will happen before, during and after your procedure, and any pain you might have after the operation.
Consent forms and any necessary paperwork are completed and your surgery date is scheduled, taking into account your availability and any required preoperative preparations.
4. Treatment Day
Our expert team will be ready to provide the utmost comfort and care.
Upon arrival at the clinic you will undergo a final preoperative evaluation. Your surgeon will talk you through every stage, so nothing will surprise you.
There’s no pain at all, although at times you may feel gentle pressure on your eye. The cloudy lens is removed, and an intra-ocular lens (IOL) is implanted to replace the natural lens. The procedure is typically completed within 15-20 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case.
5. Cataract Surgery Recovery
You will spend a short period of time resting in the outpatient recovery area and you will need to have someone drive you home.
Your surgeon may prescribe eye drops or medications for postoperative care to prevent infection and reduce inflammation. Following surgery, it is very important to put in the eye drops exactly as prescribed by your surgeon to promote healing.
You will receive postoperative instructions, including guidance on eye care, use of prescribed medications, and follow-up appointments.
After 3-4 days, you can get back to your normal activity.
6. Complete Follow Up Care
We will contact you the day after your treatment, followed by a complete suite of postoperative appointments to monitor the healing process and assess visual outcomes.
Any necessary adjustments or additional treatments are discussed and implemented during these visits.
We help ensure you have a safe and successful recovery with our comprehensive, detailed aftercare regime.
