Ruth leads an established team of clinical  staff at Solasta Healthcare as Clinic Director.
Ruth brings over 26 years of experience as a nurse in the perioperative setting . With a deep interest in leadership, education, human factors, and patient safety, Ruth has continuously strived for excellence in healthcare practices. Her current role as President of the Association for Perioperative Practice showcases her unwavering commitment to ensuring clinical excellence, patient and staff safety, and overall healthcare experience.
Known for her person-centered approach to leadership and care, Ruth prioritises the well-being and individual needs of both patients and staff members. In her free time, she cherishes moments spent with her teenage children, enjoying leisurely walks with her beloved beagle, Poppy, invigorating sea dips, and engaging in hot yoga and tennis. Ruth's passion for healthcare, leadership, personal well-being, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance shines through in all aspects of her life.
Mr O’Gallagher leads the surgical team at Solasta Healthcare as Medical Director.
He is one of Northern Ireland’s most respected anterior segment surgeons, specialising in treatment of conditions affecting the front of the eye including cataract. Michael graduated in Medicine with honours from Queen’s University Belfast. Completing his Ophthalmic Specialist Training, he spent over two years in London in subspecialist training in Corneal Surgery in the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Since 2016 he has been bringing that specialist expertise back as an established consultant in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
His dedication to excellence is reflected in a commitment to the highest quality care at Solasta with an emphasis on patient experience and clear communication. He is a GMC Recognised Trainer and is involved in delivering educational activities to other doctors and eye care professionals on the regional and national stages.
Outside of work he enjoys the beautiful mountains and beaches of Co. Down with his two Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Jill, your Clinic Coordinator, keeps everything running smoothly, and will help make sure you always receive the highest possible standards of service. Jill's aim is to ensure every patient’s administrative needs are taken care of – from re-arranging appointments or getting an insider recommendation for the best cafe nearby – Jill walks that little extra mile for patients, every day.
It’s important for you to have a friendly, expert, personal and knowledgeable guide at your side throughout your cataract surgery treatment. Amanda is your Patient Care Coordinator. She will be the first member of the team you meet and will explain the whole process to you. Amanda will then remain your key point of contact throughout your treatment, so you always know whom to call if you have any questions or concerns. Rest assured, with Amanda you will be in expert hands.

Meet our Nurses and Technicians
Our nurses are essential to the clinical expertise. Throughout your treatment, Barbara will be dedicated to both your clinical and emotional well-being. Calm, expert, and reassuring, Bridgean will always be on hand before, during, and after surgery.
Should you be suitable for treatment, our nurses will sit down with you and provide you with instructions on how to administer your eye drops and post-treatment medications on the day of surgery. Of course, they will be happy to answer any clinical queries you may have, before or after treatment.
