Nutritional Health
Maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle is essential for overall well-being, but how do you know if your body is truly receiving all the nutrients it needs?
Vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients play a crucial role in energy production, immune function, metabolism, and general health. Deficiencies or imbalances can lead to fatigue, weakened immunity, poor concentration, and long-term health complications, even if your diet appears sufficient.
By proactively addressing nutrient deficiencies, you can improve energy levels, reduce persistent fatigue, strengthen your immune system, support a healthy metabolism, and lower the risk of long-term health complications associated with nutrient imbalances.
Why a Nutritional Health test matters
The right balance of vitamins, minerals and trace elements underpins your energy, immunity, bones, nerves and overall wellbeing — yet deficiencies are common and often go unnoticed, quietly affecting how you feel. This panel measures key nutrients, from vitamin D, B12 and folate to iron, magnesium, zinc and copper, plus your total antioxidant status.
It's a useful check if you feel tired or run down, follow a restricted diet, or simply want to optimise your health — and every result is reviewed and explained by a GP.
What's included in your Nutritional Health test
Key vitamins, minerals, trace elements and antioxidant status.
Vitamins
- Vitamin D — essential for bone health, immune support and overall wellbeing.
- Vitamin B12 — supports nerve health, red blood cell production and DNA synthesis.
- Folate (Vitamin B9) — crucial for DNA synthesis, cell division and red blood cell formation.
Minerals & trace elements
- Iron — vital for oxygen transport, energy production and cognitive function.
- Magnesium — involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions, including muscle and nerve function.
- Zinc — important for immune health, wound healing and enzymatic activity.
- Copper — supports enzymatic activity, iron metabolism and cardiovascular health.
- Calcium — essential for bone density, nerve signalling and muscle contraction.
- Calcium (adjusted) — calcium corrected for albumin, for a more accurate reading.

What to know before your appointment
Biotin (Vitamin B7)
This is especially important for a nutritional panel. Biotin is found in many multivitamins and supplements and can interfere with several of these tests. Unless prescribed by your doctor, stop biotin supplementation at least 48 hours before testing. If it has been prescribed, please speak with your doctor before stopping.
Tell us about your supplements
Continue your usual supplements unless advised otherwise, but please tell us what you take, as high-dose vitamins and minerals can affect your results. We'd suggest pausing iron supplements for 24 hours, as they can temporarily raise your serum iron.
Book a morning appointment
Iron is naturally highest in the morning, so a morning slot gives the most reliable result. You may also be asked to fast — we'll let you know when you book.
Stay hydrated
Please ensure you are well hydrated prior to your appointment, as being dehydrated may make the blood draw more difficult.
